Zaječar wine-growing subregion covers the hills around the upper basin of the Timok and lower basins of the White and the Black Timok and consists of four parts separated by these flows.

Northwestern part: parts ofmunicipalities Metriš, Klenovac, Brusnik, Tabakovac, Velika Jasikova, Salaš, Glogovica, Dubočane, Mala Jasikova, Velika Jasikova, Koprivnica, Trnavac, Jelašnica, Rgotina, Vražogrnac, Zaječar, Zvezdan and Nikoličevo.

The northeastern part: parts of municipality Veliki Jasenovac, Gradskovo, Halovo, Veliki Izvor, Prlita, Grljan and Vratarnica, as well as municipalities Mali Jasenovac and Šipikovo.

The southwestern part: parts of municipalities Gamzigrad, Zvezdan, Zaječar, Grljan, Grlište, Vratarnica, Zagrađe, Borovac, Vrbica, Marinovac, Gornja Bela Reka, Lenovac, Lasovo, Bačevica, Dobro Polje, Planinica and municipalities Šljivar and Lubnica.

The western part: parts of municipalities Koželj, Drenovac, Trnovac, Debelica, Manjinac, Ravna, Donja Sokolovica, Stogazovac, Potrkanje, Štipina, Kaličina, Vina, Zorunovac, Slatina, Šuman Topla, Vasilj, Orešac, Balanovac, Rgošte, Glogovac, Grezna, Knjaževac, Kaličina and municipalities Lepena, Drečinovac, Valevac and Bulinovac.

The eastern part: parts of municipalities Vitkovac, Petruša, Jakovac, Jelašnica, Donje Zuniće, Berićinovac, Knjaževac and Trgovište.

Southern part: parts of municipalities Knjaževac, Trgovište, Crvenje and Žlne.
